Can somebody please explain the proof that allows the formulation of the arc length formula from the Mean Value Theorem of Calculus? :-)

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

the arc is just a portion of the circumference

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No circumference here. And yes I'm aware of the classic definition of the derivative. \[ \huge \lim_{{\triangle x} \rightarrow 0} \frac{f(x+\triangle x)+f(x)}{\triangle x} \] |dw:1341244193990:dw|
