The figure below shows a bamboo structure. What is the length of NB? Show all the steps you used to find your answer.
1. Use Pythagoras for triangle ANC.. and Find NC.. 2. Find angle, < CAN, using trigonometry.. 3. Than look at triangle ABC, its a right angle triangle.. 4. Find AB using trigonometry.. 5. And NB = AB - AN.. Gotta ????
can you show me please
y dont u try and and i will pop in if u get stuck..
so 9^2 + 5^2= C^2
81+25= c2
right.. go ahead..
106=c2
sqrt106 = 10.295630140987
so NB= 10.29?
perfect..
now step 2..
whats step 2?
Cos A = adjescent / Hypotaneous
im not sure how to do that
so have u studied trigonometry ??
a little bit, im really bad at sin, cos, and tan
on my calculator i put 10.29 and pressed cos, i got 0.9839152298
hello?
oh sorry working parallel.. so Cos A = 5/9 = so < A = take cos inverse fucntion.. not cos function..
im still confused
ok Cos A = 5/9 therefore Angle A = Cos inverse (5/9) so it comes out 56.25 degrees..
im sorry but can you just write out part 2, i really have to go
u dont need to calculate.. Just write it as COS A = 5/9
Now, step 3 and step 4.. In Triangle ABC, cos A = adjacent/ hyp = 9 / AB SO from step 2, substitute the value 5/9 = 9/ AB therefore, AB = 81/ 5 = 16.2..
step 5, SO from above 2 steps, NB = Ab- AN = 16.2 - 5 = 11.2 is the answer..
thank you so much!
sorry , for keeping u await and for confusion.. let me know, if any step unclear..
thats ok, sorry for rushing you lol. Thanks again
