how does a universal genetic code relate to the hypothesis about the origin of life on earth?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

From the fact that all organisms share the same genetic "language", we can infer that all life on earth originated with one single organism, that is, every living thing on earth has the same common ancestor. It would have been extremely unlikely for such a complex code to have evolved to be the same independently (from multiple ancestors rather than a single one).
