anyone good with geometric figures? help please
Sure, what exactly do you need help with>
Whats the diffrence between Equal and congruent?
Equal means two values are the same Congruent means two figures are the same size
in order for two objects to be equal, they have to have the same size, form, and orientation. Congruent objects need only have the same size and form.
equal means the exact same for example the measure of angle abc equals the measure of angle def but angle abc is congruent to angle def. angle abc equals angle abc
Just adding something, I remember that my Geometry teacher was very strict in proofs. When writing proofs, it's always important to remember when to use equal and when to use congruent.|dw:1341266482179:dw|
Does congruence refers to the mesurment as well?
no
no measurements are equal because they're numbers and two figures are congruent
congruence strictly expresses the relationship between two figures equality strictly expresses the relationship between two meaurements
Congruence and equality are related in that if for example each corresponding measurement of the sides of a rectangle are equal, then the figures are congruent. You can use the measurements to determine congruency and viceversa. If you know that two figures are congruent, then the measurements of their corresponding sides will be equal. Also their areas will be equal, etc.
