a problem related to chromatography ..

I was just reading the chapter , and i got the problem : I was doing experiment of separating dye from ink with the help of chromatographic paper.... Is there any other way also to separate ink from dye ?

for example i have two inks : red and black |dw:1341322221841:dw| But i want to know that is this process right and is there any other process also ?
