saif taking college exam entrance right?!?!
wow that one was hard!
LOL @satellite73 More or less yes. @karatechopper . :D
I took ACT and got state!!:) hehe
I'm told to take SATs. So SAT. :D
Congrats btw.
yes i know that! i still have to take atleast 3 more ACTs and SATs!
The answer is D.
Cool. Best of luck. :)
@Arnab_Chatterjee , i know that too! But HOW? :D
I got D as well..
D = Distinction! :D WOW!
See, P painters takes 4 days to paint H houses. So, P painters take 1 day to paint H/4 of a house. 1 painter paints therefore h/4p of a house. Now 6 painters in 2 days will paint = h/4p*6*2 Thus it is the option D.
dang arnab is fast
No..no..its okay... :)
So, you all are SAT guys...?
I'm a 7th grader, just took my first ACT.
@Arnab_Chatterjee ; Yes im giving SAT. I dont get this part: 1 painter paints therefore h/4p of a house.
Saif is the SAT guy hhaa
@satellite73 , can you help me understand? :S
See, @saifoo.khan , if p painters can in 4 days paint h houses.. Thus in I day, p no. of painters paints h/4 houses. (Their work will be limited due to less time). Again if from p no. of painters, we keep only 1 of them, so he will be able to do only h/4 part of a house divided by the number of p painters who all used to paint h/4 houses in 1 day. Thus 1 painter can paint in 1 day - h/4p houses.. I hope you got it...
@saifoo.khan , did you get it?
@Arnab_Chatterjee , try to..
trying*
Is the answer C or D?
Its D
I got C.
@arnab I do understand h/4 thing.. But not after that. Sorry @Zeerak : D is the correct one.
zee i got C at first too then retried for D
idea is what @Arnab_Chatterjee said, convert everything to unit rate if it is confusing, try replacing P by an actual number, but an ugly one like 13 that does not reduce then see what you would do to solve, then go back and replace 13 by P
Ok. A very simple example. 2 ants in 4 days can eat 8 biscuits... You order the ants to eat as much as they can.. in one day.. So, 2 ants in 1 day can eat only 2 biscuits ( which is 8/4).. Again you tell one ant to go away... And tell the other one to eat as much as he can in 1 day.. So, 2 ants could eat 2 biscuits in a day.. 1 ant gone.. therefore he can only eat 1 biscuit a day.. (Thus, 8/(4*2)).. Same rule applies to the SAT question.
@satellite73 , I think this is the best example.. :)
@saifoo.khan , are you clear now..?
Here too, i got till 8/4 but not after that. :/
8/4=2 saif:)
OMG! Thanks @karatechopper I thought: 8/4 = 2/1
OMG IKR!
The problem is... It is. <-- PERIOD!
For what it is worth: P people working for d days do p*d amount of work the number of houses built per that amount of work is h, so we have a ratio h/pd = houses/amount of work. for this problem d=4, so the rate is h/4p now given an amount of work= 6 people * 2 days = 12 (man-days) we can set up a ratio \[ \frac{h}{4p}=\frac{H}{12} \] and H= 3h/p
omg @saifoo.khan the day @karatechopper knows more than you has come :O
Lol @lgbasallote Have you heard about this proved? Every dog has his day.
i also heard that every dog has his bone
lol. I dont know about bone thing.
= 6 painters * 2 days * h house/ ( p painters * 4 days ) = 12 h/ 4p = 3h/p
saif r u calling my a dog? im sorry i take human food not biscuits:P
@karatechopper , no sis. it's just a proverb meaning that everyone has his own day.
ok brother:)
