Alrighty, well lets start from the start - what do you know about the iron sulfide hypothesis and the lipid membrane hypothesis? -Is there a particular textbook that you use (this would also help me direct you to the correct answer)?

Also the key to this answer is - why do cells now need compartments? This should lend some light as to why cells then needed compartments. :)
