put x and the number of dimes, then since the total is 43 you have \(43-x\) nickles the total amount of money is they \(.10x+.05(43-x)=3.60\) solve for \(x\) easier to work with out the decimal (i.e. with pennies instead of dollars, so write \[10x+5(43-x)=360\]
