In the below system, solve for y in the first equation. x – 3y = –6 2x – 7y = 10 one thirdx + 2 negative one thirdx + 6 –x + 2 negative one thirdx + 2

\[y=2+x/3\]

oh thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x-3y=-6\] Subtract x from both sides \[-3y=-6-x\] divide by neg. 3 \[y=(-6-x)/-3\] Remember the -3 must go with the -6 and -x so it becomes \[y=2+(1/3)x\]

oh ok thank you so much! :)
