The cost of producing 4 units is $204.80. If cost varies directly as to number of units, what is the constant of variation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k=51.20x?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

there shouldnt be an x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so just k=51.20?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cost is directly proportional to units cost = k x units 4 = k x 204.80 k = 51.2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4n=204.8 n=204.8/4 n=51.2

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

let cost = y number of units = x it says cos varies directly as number of units so y varies directly with x if you put this in equation form y = kx it says the cost of producing 4 units is 204.80 i said y is the cost and x is the number of units so 204.80 = 4k to find x divide both sides by 4 k = 51.20 you got it :)
