What is a possible first step to eliminate a variable in the following system? 7x – 9y = 2 3x – 6y = –4

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

first choose a variable, either one!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

ok now you have to get its coeficients equal to do it you have to multiply one or both equations by adequate numbers! what are the numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Idk

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

the coeficents of x are 7 and 3 ok?

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

come on @Caramel_823

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

so you have 7x 3x if you want to equal the coeficients by how much do you multiply the first eq and by hohw much the 2nd?
