What are the patterns that tell you if it is a rational number vs an Irrational number

The decimal expansion of a rational no. is either terminating (i.e. 5/2=2.5) or non-terminating repeating decimal expansion (i.e. 10/3 = 3.3333333333333....) An irrational no. is non-terminating non repeating decimal eg. 510510.510549478471056502660221478...........
