Gray whales and yeast cells do not seem like they have much in common, but their DNA molecules use the same coding rules to build protein and direct cell function. This universal genetic code that is shared by all living organisms gives possible support for many of the hypotheses about the origin of life. In this assignment, you will examine genes of several different species and apply this information to the hypotheses discussed in the lesson.
