How is fragmentation different from fertilization?

OpenStudy (blues):

Fragmentation occurs when an animal makes new copies of itself by shedding off genetically identical pieces which grow into a complete organism. Fertilization occurs when two gametes - egg and sperm - meet and make a new organism. In comparing the two, think about the scope of possible genetic diversity among the offspring.
