PLEASE.. Determine if lines that pass through the given points are parallel, perpendicular or neither. Line A: (5, 4) and (7, 5) Line B: (4, -5) and (8, -3)

OpenStudy (angela210793):

do u know how to find the equation of a line when ur given 2 points? also..do u know when 2 lilnes r called parallel?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah Trexy, use that same tool I gave you in the last question! :-D Average slope: \[m=\frac{\triangle y}{\triangle x}=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Parallel means they'll have the same slope. Perpendicular means they'll have inverse AND negative slopes (compared to one another)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nevermind I got the answer already Thank You everyone

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

just find the slopes of the lines... same slopes the lines are parallel the the 2 slopes multiply to -1 then the slopes are perpendicular or 1 slope is the negative reciprocal of the other anything else then it would be neither

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Example of inverse and negative: \[-\frac{2}{3} \leftarrow \rightarrow +\frac{3}{2}\]

Thank YOu
