Using complete sentences, explain how to find the zeros of the function f(x) = 2x3 – 9x + 3.

OpenStudy (shane_b):

There are several ways to do this: 1) Graph the function noting the points where the function crosses the x axis 2) Use the quadratic formula 3) Set the expression equal to 0 and factor it out...then solve for the x values.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can't figure out how to factor it since it is cubed not squared. And the problem wants me to explain using words, not actual math.

OpenStudy (shane_b):

Ahh...scratch the quadratic formula. I missed the cubed part. But there is a cubic formula as well: http://www.math.vanderbilt.edu/~schectex/courses/cubic/

:O im never passing algebra.
