whats the difference between sketching and drawing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think a sketch is drawing something from someone else's mind or drawing a subject. drawing is from your own mind

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so like sketching would be freehand. and a drawwing is something used with measurements.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a sketch gives essential features without details (dictionary.com)

OpenStudy (hesan):

sketch is when u draw a rough figure, and drawing is when u actually draw it..

I love sketching and drawing. However this question is off topic for math :) We have an arts group though :)

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

we have?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

i mean we do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this question came from my geometry class so mathematics seemed more sensible to go with.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

anyway in regards with this question...sketching does not focus on the exact measurements..for example if i sketch a hyperbola...what i need to focus on are only the vertex and two other points to determine the opening of the parabola...but if i draw a parabola i have to take into accord every point on the parabola

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! Comprende. I understand now. Sorry about that :)

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

sketching is just there to give a visualization

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its okay and yes Thanks!! :)
