Describe the various defense mechanisms your body has to fight pathogens, nonspecific and specific. How does not washing your hands properly affect these mechanisms? @.Sam. @Agent_Sniffles

If not washing hands affect these mechanism, it's probably because this kind virus is infiltrating from your mouth, nose etc.

Adaptive immune system fights specific pathogen when it has recieved two signals to start. Innate immune system continously fights pathogens and canccergenic cells aswell as parasites. Hand washing doesn't affect these mechanisms as long as you don't itch your eyes, put your fingers in your mouth or any other body openings.

2) Non specific responses

a) Phagocytosis by white blood cells (macrophage or agranulocytes) (WBC's).

b) Attachment and neutralization by plasma globulin proteins.

c) Inflammation (swelling, redness, heat).

3) Specific responses

a) Mounted by lymphocytes that recognize unique molecular configurations on invading pathogens (remember you only get sick by one type of pathogen once, then you are immune).
