Choose the equation of the vertical line passing through the point (-4, 2).

OpenStudy (across):

Am I the only one who thinks that mathematics being taught with ambiguous terms, such as "vertical" and even "counterclockwise," is as bad as it can get when seeking to instill a solid mathematical foundation in the minds of our young students? ;P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the graph of a line is "vertical" that means that the x value will be constant for every y value on the coordinate plane. If you're given the point (-4,2), you know that coordinates are listed in the order (x,y), and you are told that the line is vertical, you have enough information to deduce the equation of the line that passes through that given point.
