check my work plz! on proofs!
I think the question is to prove "line l || line m" Given :<2 and <5 are supplementary right ?
It would be helpful if you organized your proof with a narrative. I don't know how to evaluate what you are saying if you don't explain what is Given and what is Deduced.
@ganeshie8 yes & sorry idk how to do that but the same order you see the statement is the way i answered it
i have to figure out if the statements match the reasons based on the picture that is what i have. i just wana mke sure im rite
Then the order would be something like: 1. Given that <2 and <5 are supplementary, 2. from the Definition of Supplementary Angles we know <2 + <5 = 180 degrees. 3. Also, <2 = <3 because of the Vertical Angle Theorem 4. so by substitution, <3 + <5 = 180 degrees as well (and are supplementary by definition). 5. Therefore, by the Converse of Same-Side Interior Angles Theorem, line l is || to line m.
wow, okay thanks ! very much appreciated
It might be worth pointing out that we assume l and m are in the same plane, but I'm guessing your teacher won't notice that omission.
yeah she won THANK U SO MUCH! im clueless wen it cums to proofs
But the real takeaway Julie, is to think of writing a proof like telling a story (or writing a recipe). You have to explain the steps in order; how you know the first thing and how you therefore know the next thing, etc.
