I don't get how to make this useful. There seems to be very little structure. For instance I am studying in Udacity's Intro to Stats couse but I cannot see a related group or how to create one. It just seems to be a long stream of questions in a few high level topic groups. Have I missed something?
Ok, well Welcome to OpenStudy alec! So are you looking for a statistics group?
I think it's a bit more meta. If I'm a student how do I start using Open Study? How to I locate forums relevant to my course? Or create them? Or is that the wrong idea? How is information organised? What type of students is this aimed at? (e.g. Students on sites such as udacity or coursera already have forums for their students -- is this different? How? Who's it for? How might it be usefu?) I've been a member for some time. but I have no so far found it useful. Some introductory guidelines would be useful. Searching and taxonomy are urgently needed.
The blue bar at the top tells you which subject you are viewing at the moment. If you click on the bar, you will see a list of topics you are currently studying and you can select one to view. Additionally, at the bottom of the list is a button labeled "find more subjects." From there, you can view a list of all of the subject that the site currently supports, and you can start studying in however many subjects you'd like. As of now, there is no way to create a subject on your own, but you can ask the mods to create a new subject, and they usually don't.
