OpenStudy (dariyana):

Point G is the centroid of the triangle. The length of BG= 10. What is the length of BE? 30 15 20 18

OpenStudy (dariyana):

hero (hero):

What is it that is preventing you from understanding this?

OpenStudy (dariyana):

it would be 18

OpenStudy (dariyana):

right @Hero

hero (hero):

And how exactly did you get that? I don't believe that is correct

OpenStudy (dariyana):

when i did 10 times 18 which equal 180

hero (hero):

Hint: BG is 2/3 of BE

OpenStudy (dariyana):

20 @Hero

hero (hero):

You're guessing

OpenStudy (dariyana):

no iam not lol tht mean

hero (hero):

You ARE guessing. I know because you have no idea what the answer is and you are not using any kind of reasoning to develop a solution to the problem.

OpenStudy (dariyana):

yes iam iam trying to figure it out youre begin mean can y give me the answer and tell me how you got it

hero (hero):

Well, for one, I know the definition of the centroid of a triangle. That's the starting point.

OpenStudy (dariyana):

i think it would be 30 becasue youwould have to flip 2/3 and make it 3/2 and you times 10 anad three right

hero (hero):

The longest segment from the vertex to the centroid is always 2/3 and the shortest segment is always 1/3. In this case, BG = 2/3 the length of BE GE = 1/3 the length of BE Since BG = 10, BE must be 15 since 1/3 of 15 is 5 2/3 of 15 is 10 3/3 of 15 is 15

hero (hero):

Uh, no...way off. You don't "flip" anything

OpenStudy (dariyana):

ohhh ok
