how do you convert 21.8in^3 to liters

OpenStudy (nikolas):

First I'd convert the inches to centimetres: We know that 1in = 2.54cm so 1in^3 = 2.54cm^3. We also know that one cubic centimetre is equivalent in volume to 1 millilitre. With this information, do you know how to apply conversion factors to find what you need?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 2.54x21.8/1000

OpenStudy (nikolas):

Yes, I believe that's it. When written out with units it should look like this (and it's important you understand this part): 21.8in^3 * (2.54cm^3 / 1 in^3) * (1mL / 1cm^3) * (1L / 1000mL) Notice that the units {in^3, cm^3, mL} all cancel out so that you're left with Litres.
