|x| = 6

absolute value means to ignore the negative sign if there is one within the abs val bars that said, this means that there are two options: either x is negative, and we ignored the negative sign by taking the absolute value, or x is positive and we don't need to change anything mathematically that means that we have two possible situations when faced with the problem \[|x|=a~~~for~~~a\ge0\]we can split this up into two statements; either\[x=a~~~~or~~~~x=-a\] now all you need to do is tell me what \(a\) is in your problem and plug that in above.
