On a certain day, the company took 82 people on whale watching trips. There were 54 children aged twelve and under, of which some children were under three years. If x represents the number of children under three years, which equation can be used to find the value of x, where C represents the total amount of money collected from tickets that day?

OpenStudy (valpey):

I assume you have some information on the price of tickets for children 3-12 and adults (and and kids under 3 are free).

OpenStudy (valpey):

Let A be the price of an Adult ticket and K be the price of a kids (age 3-12) ticket. C will be equal to A times the number of adults and K times the number of kids (age 3-12) If there were 82 people, 54 of which were kids, then 82-54 is the number of adults.

OpenStudy (valpey):

If x is the number of kids under 3 and there were 54 total kids, then 54-x is the number of kids age 3-12.

OpenStudy (valpey):

$C = $A(82-54) + $K(54-x)
