So here i go with a problem .. please check it
I typed harpellet in chat it showed me harpellet
i believe it is a filter.. as long as your terms contain a curse word..chats/messages/questions/replies/etc. the filter wll automatically turn it into bird-related words
...and user-names are apparently a separate object type, and the algorithm for filtering applies only to regular words. I brought this up to admin as well, but they gave me the impression that it was somewhere towards the bottom of their to-do list since it would require so much reprogramming, and you could still evade the filter very easily with a few hyphens, spaces, misspellings, etc. so it seems to be more trouble than it is worth. Users with obviously inappropriate user-names should be reported so they can be banned. In the example above I imagine it's simply an issue if language/cultural confusion :P I do not know where that user is from, but it would not surprise me to find out that that name is common in the region where they are.
issue of*
I pointed out the difficulty in talking about "wingspanroaches" in the biology section, or "Moby Wingspan" in literature, so the filter has its pitfalls undoubtedly.
Andy Rodwingspan is also a problem when discussing sports in chat.
lol yep
Hehe, yes the filter can definitely be a 'blunt object' when it comes to some cases. We've been working on making more exceptions to the rules it catches, such as the (hilarious) examples some of you have listed above ;) Thanks @TuringTest for the great explanation - better than I could have done, and great question and responses @mathslover and @lgbasallote :)
Thanks a lot @cshalvey sir @TuringTest sir and @lgbasallote ..thanks for ur responses
