i'd just started my 1st year in E&E and i got a question like this in my basic electronic class: the photodetector is used to detect infrared of wavelength 1μm upwards. what type fo semiconductor material must be used to design the detector?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

somehow i think we need to use E=hv? and f=vλ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For wavelengths 1-2.5 um the material is PbS, Lead(II) Sulfide

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do your reach to that conclusion? we need to refer to any data sheet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

check photodetectors and range of utilization for infrared
