QUICK: A turbine on a wind farm is used to turn a generator. Explain step by step how energy from the sun lights a lamp in your house.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does it make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain it more briefly? wich steps r u asking?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As in the process

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it needs to relate electromagnetic induction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which energy formation u r asking..wind energy to electrical energy or solar to electric?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

actually solar to electric, but using a wind turbine. i'm really confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well...sun causes the air to heat

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we know wind is caused when rarer hot air from the ground(its the ground that is heatd more than the upper air..thats y we have cool climate as we go up)pushes the denser upper air causing wind

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wind turns the aerodynamic i think propylene fan blades to rotate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay. then how is wind converted to electric?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the fan rotates the magnet inside the copper coil...according to faradays law an emf is induced when the magnetic flux linked with the coil changes....the ends of the coil is connected thro an external load causing a potential difference and voila you get current ..this current is usually high so it is stepped up and then down using transformer thn it comes to ur house at a regular 240 volts and u get the lamp lightd..actually this is very simple...the explanation is huge..check more at wiki

Thanks!!!

u r welcome
