I have no idea how to graph this!! please help! graph the following function and its inverse. f(x)=16x-6/7

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):

Hi mathdummy4 :) How are you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y= 16x-6/7

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):

So it is a straight line my dear :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

trace it now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Shayaan_Mustafa yeah..:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im good:) well this is a multiple choice question...and there all straight lines haha

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):

Good :) So find where y-axis cut of that straight line. (It must be at 0.85 something like this.) Find out that graph with 0.85 y-intercept.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

will the two lines intercept each other? or will they be parallel?

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):

Which two? In your question you have given just one line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have to graph that line and that lines inverse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok great thanks so much for your help!

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):

You are welcome my dear. :) If need more help then kindly ask .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y=\frac{16x-6}{7}\]?

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):

No no it is not the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

looks like this http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3D%2816x-6%29%2F7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for inverse solve \[x=\frac{16y-6}{7}\] for \(y\) you get \[7x=16y-6\] \[7x+6=16y\] \[y=\frac{7x+6}{16}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

inverse looks like this http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3D%287x%2B6%29%2F16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks satellite73! that site is awesome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and easy to use right?

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):

I don't know how to use wolframalpha. :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for sure!:) thanks again both of you

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):

welcome ever :)
