In other words, there is no such thing as a "final draft." It can ALWAYS be revised.

One rule does not apply to writing an essay. Revision is a great tool when you 'feel' you have finished writing your draft to your best abilities. You can also say, that pre-writting and or brainstorming is also a number one rule. What I am meaning, is your preference will determine what your number one rule will be. I feel for my own reasons the pre-writting is a number one to writing essays.
