i'm solving system of equations and i need help with 2b+a=11 and a-b=5

myininaya (myininaya):

Ok so we have 2b+a=11 a-b=5 What ways have you learned to solve these?

myininaya (myininaya):

Elimination, Substitution, or graphing?

myininaya (myininaya):

So graphing... Ok! y=Mx+B or in this case we have b=Ma+B

myininaya (myininaya):

2b+a=11 We need to solve this for b

myininaya (myininaya):

Right. 2b=-a+11

myininaya (myininaya):

So we have b=-a/2+11/2

myininaya (myininaya):

Do you know what the slope of this equation is? Do you know what the y-intercept is? b=Ma+B M is the slope B is the y-intercept

myininaya (myininaya):

\[b=\frac{-1}{2}a+\frac{11}{2}\]

myininaya (myininaya):

The slope if -1/2 and y-intercept 11/2

myininaya (myininaya):

Slope is rise/run

myininaya (myininaya):

rise is -1 means we are going down 1 And run is 2 so we go in the positive direction twice
