Assuming that nothing else except birds can eat the seeds. And also that the experimenter can only measure the amount of seed eaten before and after each feeding. And finally the experimenter can not be observing the entire experimental session.

This question is technically asking of which of the following parameters can the experimenter actually control and to be able to determine there was actually a significant difference between the parameters measured. 

The only choice that can be used would be B. Appealing (assuming most eaten) can be determined.

D the last choice assumes 'best' for birds. This term is vague in its sense as good for the health? or good in terms of taste? This is unknown and practically impossible to measure accurately
