factor 150-5t-5t^2

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

First factor out a 5

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

whoops lets rearrange it -5t^2-5t+150 so factor out a -5

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

-5(t^2+t-30)

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

did u follow what i did so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so -5(x+6)(t-5) ?

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

yuppppp :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks so the full questions wasss a stone is thrown straight down from a tall building. h=150-5t-5t^2, h in meters and t in seconds. how tall is the building ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also when the does the stone hit the ground

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

ok so the the ball begins at the height of the building so at t=0 seconds you will find out the height of the building. So plug in t=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

150=h

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so the building 150 meters high. how do I find out when the stone hits the ground?

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

ok so when the ball hits the ground what is the height of the ball? its obv at 0 so plug in h as 0 ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it beeee in 5 seconds? cause when you factor -5(t+6)(t-5) so then t=-6 and t=5 so 5 seconds?

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

yes correcct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks ! :)
