@rharper85 not always unethical. We need to do black & white box testing to determine if a software is hack proof or not ! It's a very well paid ethical profession !

i don't think it's considered hacking if its black and white box testing...those test are for ethical purposes and not considered hacks but testing for vulnerabilities and weakness from hackers.

First of all, hacking is a word with multiple meanings. To some people hacking merely means using a technology in a way that was not intended, or using custom built equipment. However I agree that this is probably not the kind of hacking the OP has in mind. Also, black box and white box are not hacking methods at all, they are testing approaches, I think Jeet meant to say black HAT and white HAT hacking. Assuming you wish to hack something ethically (I know I've had to break a couple of windows passwords for users who forgot them) I would suggest that this is probably not the forum to discuss such matters, Google is right there, try searching for "hacking forum".
