Describe the effect on a protein if one or more amino acids are changed.

OpenStudy (stephstar101):

The effects range from mild to potent. A mild effect would be that the amino acid change has no effect on the protein, and it works like it should. A potent effect would be that the change altered the shape of the protein, and it can no longer do what job it typically does; sickle-cell anemia is one example of this, and the sickle-shaped blood cells are extremely inefficient.
