Which one? If you mean what is often called the Nullification Crisis of the early 1830s, the first time Southern states considered secession, Lincoln had no effect, since he was only a moderately unsuccessful local Illinois politician then. If you mean the big one, wherein states actually did secede, in 1860 -- well, the election of Lincoln was cited by the first seceding states as precisely why they did secede. So he had everything to do with it.
