OpenStudy (waheguru):

What does it mean to state the degree of a polynomial

OpenStudy (hba):

for example x^2+2x+3=0 is an equation of 2nd degree

OpenStudy (waheguru):

Im confused

OpenStudy (hba):

see the power

OpenStudy (waheguru):

yea

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

Degree of a polynomial is the highest degree of the variable. For example: 3x^3+5x^2+7x+2 Here 3 is the highest power and thats the degree 2x^2+3x+4 here its 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

highest power of x is a degree of a polinomial

OpenStudy (waheguru):

Oh, I have an example question

OpenStudy (hba):

yeah

OpenStudy (waheguru):

The degree is 4 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (waheguru):

Thanks! I just love Open Study =)

OpenStudy (waheguru):

SO what is a polynomial

OpenStudy (waheguru):

guys...

OpenStudy (waheguru):

I had math last semester so I am just trying to refresh my memory

OpenStudy (waheguru):

A polynomial consists of 2 or more algebraic terms right like 2x+3b and then there is monimoials, binnomials and so on

OpenStudy (waheguru):

Is that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polynomial

OpenStudy (waheguru):

Am I right?
