Okay, I had an idea. @Julianassange mentioned a cooking group, which I loved. But, what about a home economics group? It would involve cooking and other basics for housework etc. A lot of students have to take it in school and it could be fun. c: please?
If so, then everything comes under Academics. We don't need extra curricular groups here. Let's see what the administrators say about this.
that would be a great addition to a topic in the new forums I'm planning !
Home economics is academic, Parth. Most people have to take it in some form, in the US to graduate. Something about not burning a dorm/house down while cooking..
But a lot of skills learned are hands on. Aside from that there can be some liability issues involved. A kid might end up burning their house down or cutting a finger off.
will you elaborate?
Sorry, didn't realize most people on here didn't know that already. o.O My apologies. Houses have insurance and uh Fingers are replaceable...c; Nah, you do have a point. Home economics is pretty hands on. Lgba do you not have home ec where you live?
we have. but it's for girls. what the guys had is woodworks and thingies. and by elaborate i didnt mean the subject but your proposal
Well in my school catalog this is what it says home ec is: Topics in the first semester of this course from our online academy include nutrition and exercise, kitchen tools and safety, food categories and cooking, clothes and textiles, and sewing and pattern-making. In the second semester, this course from our online academy continues with lessons on interior design and room decoration, hospitality and entertaining guests, home repair, job searching, personal finance, child care and development, and building relationships. Character quality development and biblical applications to daily situations are also discussed. Obviously on here, we won't make it centered on biblical applications, but that's the write-up. This class is for guys and girls it's just they make some changes in the projects based on gender.
Wait so your school requires it? I thought it was an elective...
hmm i'd like to be convinced to support the idea :) how do you see the questions in this group? i mean hypothetically this group was implemented. what do you imagine the questions in it would be?
@Romero it is an elective but we have to take either home ec or art so it's kinda not haha (I took art :3) I already know how to cook and clean and sew and all that other super entertaining stuff...Actually, I should've taken that class. I would've aced it, oh well, I got an A in art xD @lgbasallote Anything people need help with. Cooking, maybe things like (in regards to cleaning) what cleaners shouldn't be mixed xD (like bleach) just different random things. And I'm not trying to convince *you* to let me get a group c; Just informing you on the subject. It's the mods I'm trying to convince. ;D
but you need to get the support of public dont you
was just asking though
Yes, I do c;
I think the best way to approach this is with videos. A lot of it is learned by watching someone do it so making youtube videos and having them posted on your profile can work.
Like, just post the link in our profile?
I wonder if we could call home ec a social science? We already have that group...hmmmm
for the record i was not forcing anyone to convince anyone. i just asked how it would look like. you are free to respond to that or not (which you did). so..im not making you convince me. note that "i'd like to be convinced" that wasnt synonymous to "convince me" ;)
Oh when I first read this I thought it WAS an economics suggestion, like macro & micro economics. Hmm... up to the moderators/devs I guess :-)
Yeah such a group might be interesting .....
@rebeccaskell94 I like that idea! and thanks for mentioning it!!!
