what is meaning of collective excitation in quasi particle ?

OpenStudy (fwizbang):

A collective excitation is an excitation in which many particles act together. A quasi particle is an excitation that isn't really a particle but behaves like one under the circumstances of interest. In semiconductors, for example, the particles are electrons, but it is often useful to treat the holes(where electrons are missing) as positively charged "quasi"-particles.
