is 1,108 divisible by 8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

Parth (parthkohli):

A number is divisible by both 2 and 4 in order to get it divisible by 8.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you try using long division ?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

@ParthKohli Divisible by 2 AND 4? Doesn't divisibility by 4 imply divisibility by 2? Just saying... :)

Parth (parthkohli):

Oops I went wrong.

Parth (parthkohli):

The last three digits must be divisible by 8.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Yeah, that ^ :)

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

So yeah, since 108 isn't divisible by 8 (108 = 13(8) + 4 ) Neither is 1108 :)

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

The reason for the rule is that 1000 is divisible by 8, so any multiple of 1000 is also divisible by 8, therefore, only the last three digits matter :D
