Hans pays $396 in advance on his account at the athletic club. Each time he uses the club, $5 is deducted from the account. What is the equation that represents the amount remaining in the account after x visits and what is the amount remaining in the account after 11 visits?

OpenStudy (shane_b):

If every visit costs him $5 and he had an original balance of $396, then the equation would be: Balance = 396-5x If you plug in 11 for x, what do you get?

4004? I'm not sure i don't know anything about math, thats why im here lol

OpenStudy (shane_b):

Ok, what is 396 - 5 * 11?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4301

You have to remember the order of operations here. In order: Parentheses Exponents Multiplication or Division Addition or Subtraction In 396-5*11, 5 * 11 has a higher order of precedence...so calculate that first to get 55. Now just subtract 55 from 396 to get?
