Can someone tell me what "In 5" evaluates to?

OpenStudy (shane_b):

1.609437912

OpenStudy (turingtest):

you want an analytic evaluation?-

OpenStudy (shane_b):

I DO

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank yu so much

OpenStudy (turingtest):

e is a transcendental number, so we can only write expressions to represent it, not any simple number\[e\approx2.718281828459045...\]and it continues randomly. So you can't get a much prettier numerical answer than the way it already is, though there are other ways to write the expression of course.

OpenStudy (turingtest):

\[\ln5=\frac{\log5}{\log e}=\frac1{\log_5e}\]but which is simplest?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

aside from that option you have your calculator, which just uses an algorithm to approximate the value you ask for, like I said earlier.

OpenStudy (shane_b):

Thanks @TuringTest :)
