Find the equation of the quadratic function with roots -8 and -6 and a vertex at (-7, -3).

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

Do you have access to a graphing calculator or software that can graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope :(

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

Go there http://www.geogebra.org/webstart/geogebra.html let it load. :) Then type (x+8)*(x+6) in the input bar at the bottom. You'll realize that you need to translate the graph down a little, so subtract off the required amount. Your equation will look like (x+8)*(x+6) minus some number :)
