The figure below shows two similar pictures that Gina wants to frame. Gina has 2 strips of unfinished molding that she wants to use to frame the two pictures. Each strip is 36 inches long. Assuming there is no wastage or overlap of molding, what is the minimum length of molding Gina still requires to frame both the pictures? Show your work and explain your reasoning in complete sentences.

I think you need to find the parameter of the two shapes and add them. THis will be the minimum length of molding that you will need

The key word is similar. Since we were given both dimensions of the smaller picture, we can find the width of the larger one. Remember your ratios for similar figures: a/b=x/c In this case, I think the width of the larger picture is about 37.5. Add up the lengths,and find out how many sections you will need.
