PreCal question, smart people please help me! sec(arcsec(1/2)) There are answer choices: A. No solution. B. π/6 C. π/3

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

1/2? 1/2 what?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

i mean the unit..degree or radian

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Radians or degrees is an important specification; but I think it's safe to assume radians given the scale.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh it doesn't really say

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll check :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm thinking it's radians... someone please help me :(

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

do you know the arcsec of 1/2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, it's not in the unit circle :(

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

it is..isnt it?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

secant is 1/cosine is hypotenuse / adjacent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm... See, I thought when it asked for arcsec, it was asking for what angle I can get 1/cos of and get 1/2 Which means one of the angles in the unit circle would have to have 2 as the x value, doesn't it? Cuz the inverse of 1/2 is two. But none of them have this value :(
