Remember the right hand rule in a wire looks like: So now when you wrap the wire around in a coil it looks like this: Where the coil is wrapped in the center, just take your hand and look at how everywhere along the coil you have magnetic field lines curling out from the center! Remember, magnetic field lines point from north to south outside the magnet and south to north inside the magnet.
