Why earth rotates from east to west?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Initial conditions.

mathslover (mathslover):

The angular momemtum of pretty much the whole solar system is in that direction. All the planets revolve that way, the sun rotates that way, and almost all of the planets rotate that way. Venus is the odd exception, and it rotates backward, but very slowly. The primordial stuff that eventually coalesced into the solar system was on average moving that way when it started, so that's the way it rotates still. for transparency read this link http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_does_Earth_rotate_from_west_to_east#ixzz1zqRXPTYe

I was there when it all went down...someone kicked Venus.

doesn't matters there is no east no west these are just assumptions earth rotates in about its axis which gives it two poles east or west are assumed by men. . . if you take north pole upside then earth is clockwise if you take south pole upside it rotates anticlockwise. . .

Careful: Earth rotates from West to East!
