OpenStudy (zeesbrat3):

Two boats start their journey from the same point A and travel along directions AC and AD, as shown below. What is the distance, CD, between the boats?

OpenStudy (zeesbrat3):

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

let BC = y, CD =x

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

u familiar with SOH CAH TAO ?

OpenStudy (zeesbrat3):

Ya, I finally figured it out. I was supposed to do \[200\div \sqrt{3}\]

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yep! that gives BC

OpenStudy (zeesbrat3):

I kept doing it the other way around

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

hmm ok... now u know how to find CD may i know whats the other way u tried...

OpenStudy (zeesbrat3):

What do you mean?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

hmm just curious.. wd like to know the other method u tried

OpenStudy (zeesbrat3):

I first found CD because it was \[200\sqrt{3}\] then I subtracted the answer from \[200\div \sqrt{3}\]

OpenStudy (zeesbrat3):

I got it wrong the first time because I switched everything

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

ohhk... you have first found BD = 200\(\sqrt{3}\) then subtracted BC... nice.. good work :))
