Which set of numbers does not create a triangle? 80 cm, 25 cm, 1 m 5 m, 12 m, 8 m 110 ft, 12 yd, 150 ft 7 yd, 13 yd, 19 yd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A + C > B B+ C > A A+ B > C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its this one 5 m, 12 m, 8 m

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope try again. Fill in the numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

80 cm, 25 cm, 1 m the numbers look werid but it gotta be this one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just calculated all of them. I believe 2 of them could be your answer. the first choice and the third choice. are you sure those were the answers you were given?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes im sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats weird. I guess theres a 50-50 shot for you. Im so sorry. Its either the first one or the third one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok Thanks do you know about this one For a triangle with sides a = 418 and b = 222, side c must be less than what length? Type the numeric answer only in the box below. Numerical Answers Expected!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is 196. You subtract 418 and 22 and get 196 and if you add them it makes 640, which is the highest they can go.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how do i write it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know the formula for this? @diva15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait. no write 640. i missread the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 640 because thats the highest it can be, so it must be less than that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the way to answer this is two find out if any of the two sides of the triangle are grater than the 3rd. @Harrypotterfan101 you had the correct formula at the top but you are explaining this wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i will write it like this <640

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if two sides of the triangle are not grater then the 3rd then it is NOT a triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just write 640 because it asks for numerical answers. And @LivForMusic so then it would be the third choice, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 640 is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Harrypotterfan101 yes the answer is the 3rd choice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where is 640 coming from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the 3rd choice is 640 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh no 640 is for the second question @diva15 asked

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok. next time @diva15 post another question seperate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*separate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so whats the answer for the 2nd question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

640 is the answer for the second question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer for the second question btw is not 640

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how so? you have to add the two values and subtract them to create a range

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because you can not have the two sides added equal the 3rd or above because then it is not a triangle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No that is just the range for C. It can be anything in between those two values. C is the hypotenuse which is the biggest side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The third side is between 196 and 640. Side C must be less than 640.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok sorry i read it inccorectly the answer for the second question IS 640.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*incorrectly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so @Harrypotterfan101 you are correct
