The best possible first step to solving 5x – 7y = –4 3x – 10y = –14 by eliminating the x, would be to multiply the first equation by 3 and multiply the second equation by 5, right?

OpenStudy (alexwee123):

there are many "best" ways to solving problems the best way is the way that you like the most and find the easiest to use XD

OpenStudy (alexwee123):

but it looks like you are trying to use elimination to find out the values so you would multiply the first equation by -3 and the multiply the second by 5 and then add them together

OpenStudy (alexwee123):

|dw:1342063976431:dw| you do the math :p
